Top Tips for Saving in Summer
The winter chill has finally left the air and summer has come to warm our hearts and homes. However, summer can be an expensive time of year. Here are our top tips for saving money this summer.
- Spend some time outside. Get in touch with nature again. Using the stove or baking in the oven can create unnecessary heat in the house. By cooking on the barbeque you get to enjoy nature as well as the cool air and wonderful smells. Picnics and hikes are also great ways to get out of the house, save money and spend time with friends and family.
- Let your laundry dry outside. The summer sun is a great and efficient way to dry you clothes and it’s all for free! If you have the ability to hang your wet laundry up, then let the sun and wind do all the work that your dryer would normally do for you. At the same time you will save money on your electricity bill.
- Look out for Winter Sales. Plan ahead and save money before the winter season sneaks up on you. In summer some department stores have discount sales on winter items to make space for the new summer items. Take advantage of the opportunity of these sales and get ready cold winter season.
- Replace your air conditioning filters. Many people don’t realise that dirty air filters can increase the costs of using your air conditioner. Dirty filters restrict the airflow and the efficiency of the air conditioner – which increases the cost to run them. Filters are cheap – replace them regularly and save!
- Cut down garden maintenance. Water your garden early in the morning or late in the evening, rather than in the heat of the afternoon sun. By watering in the cooler parts of the day, less evaporation will happen and your garden will not be left thirsty and your water bill will not leave your wallet empty.
